The Kimberley Process
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) is an international cooperative monitoring system created by governments, industry, and civil society to eliminate the flow of “conflict diamonds”–rough diamonds that are sold (and often smuggled) by rebel movements to finance wars against legitimate governments. The KPCS requires participating countries to tightly control the import and export of rough diamonds. Also, the KPCS requires governments to establish control systems over private sector trade in rough diamonds. To comply with this process, rough diamonds may only move among participating countries in sealed containers with accompanying documentation evidencing the county of export.
The Kimberley Process strives to work alongside many countries to maintain conscientious sourcing of the world’s diamonds. The United States itself carries strict guidelines concerning the importing of gems, and we have carefully chosen our suppliers to uphold our own standing of integrity concerning our stones. After more than 40 trips around the world, Richard has amassed one of the largest, most exquisite collections of natural gemstones in the entire Willamette Valley. Because Richard hand selects many of our stones, you can be assured that only the most vibrant and beautiful stones are used in our jewelry. We strive to source our gems all the way to the mine and buy straight from the miner themselves or from our credible suppliers. Richard has built relationships with the people he buys from and maintains close ties with his long-standing suppliers.
We create all of our pieces in-house using a variety of best practices, keeping our employee's safety in mind.
